Sangatta, which is located in East Kalimantan, is the capital of East Kutai Regency. Sangatta is a mining town. It is one of the largest coal suppliers in Indonesia. It is also one of the largest mining cities in the world.
If you come to Sangatta, you will feel that Sangatta is such a remote area. It is still far away from Airport, for about four hours
Who would have thought that from the city of Sangatta, a One Indonesia ASTRA winner emerged, namely Eko Sulistianto, who won the socialpreneur field with his program JAKUZA. Jakuza itself is an abbreviation of Jaza Kurir Apa Aza means they are ready many kinds of courir service.
One thing that make Eko has an idea to make JAKUZA because Eko often saw young people in his area, spending time by hanging out uselessly. Sometimes they even do negative things. Eko saw that they had motorbikes but they were just sitting around without any meaningful activity. Then Eko thought about what activities they could do with the motorbike they had. Finally Eko had an idea to create a courier service.
Initially, many people ridiculed Eko, they doubted whether the Jakuza service would be sold, because in Sangatta at that time, many people already had motorized vehicles and Sangatta itself was not a very large city. So many people think they can go anywhere themselves without needing a courier.
But Eko never gave up, he saw that many young people actually needed work, some had dropped out of school, and there were many who could not be accepted into mining companies even though Sangatta was a coal mining center.
Eko thinks that this business will actually provide new jobs for them. Eko also thinks that his good intentions to open up jobs will definitely find a way.
From being underestimated at first, it turns out that this courier service business is growing rapidly. Eko targets is online business people who need goods delivery services to customers. Business people don’t need to bother going to a delivery service, they just need to contact Jakuza and the officer will come to pick up the goods and be ready to take them to their destination. Of course this saves a lot of time.
In the end, many Sangatta residents take advantage of this service. They just need to stay at home, the goods they need can be delivered without them having to leave the house. Customers can save energy and costs too, apart from not having to queue, they also don’t need to waste petrol to go buy goods.
When the pandemic arrived and people were restricted from leaving the house, courier services like this were increasingly needed and developed rapidly. It was at this time that Jakuza became increasingly known to the people of Sangatta. Not only for sending goods, people are also starting to need to buy food online. At that time, there were not many food delivery services or online couriers operating in the Sangatta area. So Jakuza is growing rapidly.
Until finally Eko as the cofounder of Jakuza received an award from Astra International. Indeed, Jakuza deserves an award because:
1. Open job opportunities for young people to become couriers
2. Helps increase sales because of easy marketing and delivery.
3. Participate in advancing the people’s economy by stimulating the growth of online and offline businesses.
4. Developing economic potential in the region.
In 2022, when celebrating Jakuza’s 7th anniversary, Eko, as the founder of Jakuza, also founded AKSI, namely the Sangatta Courier Association. Jakuza is growing rapidly with this Association. AKSI oversees all couriers in Sangatta. So whatever the name of the courier, the essence is still one in this AKSI platform.
On August 18 2024, Jazuka celebrated its 9th anniversary, MashaAllah tabarakallah, at its 9th year, Jazuka already has many couriers who are ready to help serve the community. There is no fear, even though there are many online applications now, Jakuza is sure that it will still be in the hearts of the Sangatta people. Hopefully Jakuza will progress and be successful forever.
